I can’t believe it’s 2020 – as in the beginning of a completely new decade. What the heck? Where did time go? However, writing has been going great and I’ve been feeling so creative lately. 2020 is starting strong!
How was your new year? What are most excited about? Tell me in the comments down below!
For today’s post, I wanted to revisit a writing tag that I did not long ago and really loved – A part two of Your WIP in Gifs! The past few months, I’ve been working on a totally new story while I take a break on my sci-fi and it’s be a lot fun. It’s completely out of my comfort zone because I’ve never really written fantasy before.
Quick shout-out to Michelle for creating such an awesome tag!
. . .
Your WIP in GIFS Tag!
💛 Thank the person who tagged you
💛 Credit the creator of this tag (Michelle!) and link back to this post so she can find out allll about your WIPs!
💛 Try to limit the amount of gifs you use per question – I’d say maybe stick to five or less but I’m not the boss of you
Sum up your WIP in 4 gifs!
My curent WIP is about a home called Snow Hill where witches are sent when their powers are on the fritz. The MC is a young girl named Maddie, who loses her magic after she’s attacked by a demon that’s not supposed to exist. Maddie is sent to live at Snow Hill until her powers return but while she’s there, she begins to dig up the truth behind who really attacked her.
Time to introduce your main characters!
Maddie, who’s just survived a near-death experience, must leave her home, her Coven and her human best friend to live at Snow Hill while she tries to regain her Magick. Though she prefers the company of humans any day, Maddie finds herself connecting to her other ‘roomates’ and leaning on them as she faces the terrifying possibility that she may never use magick again.
Esther may be sick and frail but it doesn’t stop her from taking care of everyone else. Rescued from a cult obsessed with extreme curative magick, Esther is currently residing at Snow Hill to be ‘un-brainwashed’.
Leo is a golden boy from a golden Coven. Or he was, until one of his experiments got twelve from his Coven killed. Once a promising young alchemist, Leo has since refused to do magick but his parents aren’t ready to give up – which is how he ends up at Snow Hill. Alas Leo is usually too busy reading or being everyone else’s cheerleader to focus on himself.
Sven is 80% sarcasm and 18% jokster which usually doesn’t leave room for much else, but hey, Divination isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Tarot slinging, tea reading and ghost-seeing are just some of Sven’s skills – and not usually to the benefit of others. Sven is currently being haunted by several ghosts he promised he’d reunite with their loved ones.
Freya’s affinities for the elements are completely controlled by her emotions – something she has an incredibly hard time managing considering all that she’s been through. After a number of accidents, it became clear to Freya that she was a danger to everyone and needed help.
How would your main character react in a crisis?
At first, Maddie is wracked with self-doubt after she’s attacked, that maybe she didn’t actually see what she thought she saw. But she quickly realizes something really wrong is going on and decides to take matters into her own hands. In short: She’s hella fed up.
If you were to meet your main characters, how would you react?
I would be soo excited! They’re all a little messed up but I’d want to cheer them on…and ask for magick lessons.
And if you were to meet your antagonist?
Nope. Just nope. He’s literally a self-made God of Death sooo…nope.
Is there any romance in your WIP? How would you sum it up in gifs?
Maddie’s already dealing with a lot throughout the story and of course teenage romance has to go and make it even more complicated! At the start, Maddie isn’t quite sure of her affinity in the world of magick but she’s also struggling to understand her sexuality so throwing romance into the mix makes it quite complicated.
How do other characters feel about this ship?
Maddie has a few crushes throughout the story because she’s also trying to figure out her sexual orientation xD But the unexpected connections she makes still surprise me.
How do you want people to react to reading your WIP?
Like I said earlier, this story is super out of my comfort zone. And if anyone did ever read it, I’d hope I surprised them with the same twists and turns I’m still shocking myself with as I write this xD All in all, I just get really hyped thinking about it!
Anyone who wants to do this tag and hasn’t yet? HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Just do it! Writing can be so overwhelming/tiring sometimes and quite honestly a lot of work. But that’s where fun stuff like moodboards, outlines and tags come in…Have you done any interesting writing tags lately? Tell me in the comments down below, I’d love to give them a go!
Well, that’s it for me – have an awesome week Wanderers <3
