I saw this video over on ABookUtopia’s channel and I’ve been feeling very inspired to do it myself! :p
There have been a ton of times where I feel like I should have read X series but hey – so many books, so little time for bed-time stories am I right? Here are the books/series I really wish I’d read back when I was a kid – and maybe one day might still?!
. . .
Books I Wish I Read As A Kid
I know, I know – don’t kill me. I admit, I’ve committed a great offence. But in my defense, I was reading a lot of mysteries, goosebumps and hit the vampire craze a few years earlier than the rest of the universe (thanks Buffy,) so I never found the time to read all the books. I know, while beloved, me binging the movies repeatedly doesn’t count so I promise – ONE DAY. I will read Harry Potter. It’s the series that just got away from me :s
Another prime example of movies I loved and books I never read. Narnia books is a pretty intimidatingly big series for any kid though – maybe that’s why I enjoyed the Pevensie children and their adventures in smaller doses.
Bridge to Terabithia
I almost put a gif of Jess sobbing and was simply going to write ‘nuf’ said’, but even the gif makes me want to sob so I’m just going to stick this happy gif instead and pretend I’m okay! I feel like every school ever had their students read this one – except mine apparently. Some days I really wish I’d read it while others…maybe I’m grateful that I didn’t have to read that scene while sobbing in front of all my classmates. Honestly, can you blame me?
His Dark Materials
So for basically my entire child/teen hood, I actually had no idea the Golden Compass movie was based on a series of books. Clearly, I seriously missed out. I think the world is so vast and interesting and I love Lyra’s sass and quick thinking…so if there’s any of these series I’d pick up right now, it’d probably be this one!
Ps. Has anyone seen the new show? Should I check it out?
I think I liked the movies as a kid but in all honesty, I think Percy Jackson just missed me. Though I would totally join that camp and take his sword, thaank you. I’m all for greek Gods and Godesses’ (Troy is still one if my favorite movies ever,) but for some reason I just never got excited about poor Percy…xD I definitely feel like I missed out since I know SO MANY people who adored it.
. . .
If I’m being honest, I still have a sky-high TBR that will probably never get cut down (because I love reading way too much to not keep adding to it) but hey – maybe I’ll save these books to read to my own kids one day.
What are some kids series you wish you’d experienced child? What were your all time favorites?? Tell me in the comments down below!
That’s about it for me. Talk soon <3
