Happy Holidays Wanderer!
Have you ever read about a fictional world so amazing that you wished you could visit it too? Or maybe read about a band of mismatched characters you wished you could join? Well, I’ve been thinking about that question a lot lately while working on some world-building for my WIP and it inspired me to write today’s blog post –
Here’s my take on a fictional bucket list of all the things I wish I could do, places I wish I could visit or characters I’d want to meet from all my favorite books/shows!
. . .
A Fictional Bucket List!
1. Run Around Narnia
I mean…c’mon, who hasn’t wanted to travel to a distant magical land ever since watching Narnia? This tale of 4 siblings discovering an enchanted wardrobe that transports them to a strange and mystical world terrorized by a witch who loves winter a little too much jump-started my imagination like no other as a kid.
2. Take a potion class at Hogwarts
I’d sit for hours in a class taught by Snape if it meant I could play with things that went boom or enchant ones mind. I’m horrible at science but who knows – maybe I have the fixings for an ace witch.
3. Get Flying Lessons From Peter Pan in Neverland
I know there are a ton of versions of Peter Pan’s story but this movie will always hold a special place in my heart – when I was thirteen, all of my friends and I would watch this over and over again and wish Peter would fly through our window and teach us the magical ways of fairy dust. There’s something soo enticing about escaping the real world to for the “second star to the right, and straight on till morning”, no matter how old you get!
4. Be a Heartrender + meet Nina from Six of Crows.
Nina is BY FAR my favorite protag in Six of Crows. A fiesty Grisha with the power to soothe or stomp a persons heart in a beat, she’s not someone to be messed with and her quick quips to any judgement thrown her way made me smile every time! Being a Heartrender would easily be my first choice if I were given the chance to be a Grisha!
5. Go on an Adventure with Hook
Okay, is my love for faraway magical lands obvious yet? Once Upon a Time wrote the COOLEST version of Hook I’ve ever seen and if I had the chance to go on an adventure with him, I don’t know if I’d swoon or whoop first. I’d go anywhere with Hook and it’s not just because this anti-hero happens to be cute – it’s because the guy knows his way around surviving.
6. Hack + Ride a Robot with Aloy in Horizon : Zero Dawn
I’m actually currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn for the second time (I spent all of Christmas holidays playing last year because I was hooked) and got the urge to go on a journey with Aloy again! In a post-apocalyptic world where machines have taken over, Aloy is a girl struggling to understand where she came from and gain an understanding of where she came from. Where everyone is (understandably) afraid of machines, Aloy has an insatiable curiosity and even learns to contorl them for her own uses. It would just be so much fun to run around alongside her!
7. Find a Tomb and be Lara Croft For a Day
Another badass woman, I’m obsessed with the strength and intelligence behind Lara Croft. She even inspired me to finally cross archery off my bucket list for my 22nd birthday last year! Following clues, scaling mountains and fighting the people who are following her for no-good reasons, she’s a true heroine!
8. Have the ability to change into a wolf like in Bitten or Blood & Chocolate
There are a billion types of otherwordly, supernatural types but always loved how the theme of ‘family’ is present in those with Werewolves. Your pack is your family and you can always lean on them for anything. Plus…don’t those transformations look epic? If you’ve ever seen Blood & Chocolate, you’ll know what I mean when I say that the free running scenes look sooo cool!
9. Ride a Mountain Banshee
I actually LOVED Avatar when it came out – especially because of the Banshee scene! The idea of bonding and flying around with a creature like one of these guys sounded soo cool and I remember sitting in the theatre all those years ago like ‘sign me up!’. I’d adore calling one of beasts my pet.
10. Learn to fight like a Grounder
One of the biggest reasons I love The 100 is the culture of the Grounders — not to mention their graceful and brutal fighting style! I’d give annything to have trained under Lexa!
. . .
And that’s my bucket list!
If you had the chance to do or meet someone from your favorite fictional universe, what would you choose?! Let me know in the comments down below or feel free to make your own list! There are SO many awesome fictional worlds out there that it’s hard to pick just 11 so I want to read yours 🙂
With that said, I’m going to brew some cinnamon hot chocolate and get some reading done before bed. Have an awesome rest of your weekend Wanderers! <3
