7 Witchy Things to do on Halloween
Tarot Cards
Tarot cards have become one of my favorite things to bring to hangouts with friends because no matter how not superstitious that one friend may be, it’s hard to resist a possible glimpse into your future. Decks are really easy to come by these days (I’m in love this one!) and gets the curiosity of everyone at the table!
Build a Fort & Have a Horror Marathon
It’s hard not too screen at least ONE good horror movie (or show!) this time of year but I especially love saving up some films for the day of! And what better way to spend your marathon then cowering in a fort you built? So grab all of the candy and chocolate you can carry and build a fort that would make Will Byers proud! Unfortunately for me, I get scared way too easily (The Conjuring scarred me for life,) so my choice of films are more on the faint of heart side! I’ve been OBSESSED with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina but my favorite classic will always be Lost Boys.
Here are my top recs!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Coraline
Black Mirror
Stranger Things
Lost Boys
Crimson Peak
Beetlejuice
Palm Reading
Similar to the Tarot deck, palm reading would be something fun for a group if you know your stuff (or have a helpful guidebook – I picked up this one!) Have fun checking out each others love lines or see who’s most likely to be a money maker or has the potential to be intuitive.
Witchy Spa Night
Just because it’s the night of the dead doesn’t mean you have to spend all night dressed up like one. Take some time out of your night to treat yourself! Blast your favorite spooky tunes, put on a charcoal mask and dip into a ghoulish bath with a fun bath bomb!
Cast a Spell
Okay, no amount of Tigers Eye is going to help you win the lottery but I like to believe there’s no harm in sending a message out into the universe when you’re in need of some good vibes. There’s a bunch of interesting books out there that can help you do just that! …plus rituals tend to just make your room smell really good.
Go for a walk
This one might sound lame, but bear with me! There’s just something in the air on Halloween – I can’t put my finger on it – but it makes me want to run around and be a kid again. Even if you’re not trick-or-treating or even dressing up, go for a walk with friends and just enjoy the haunting sights!
Play a Scary Game
I think playing a creepy game on Halloween is even scarier than watching a bunch of movies, mainly because you can no longer scream ‘Don’t go into the basement!’ Because in this case, you’re the one who could potentially kill off the entire group. One of my favourite games just so happens to be a horror called Until Dawn. It’s hilarious to pass the controller around and see your friends face when they realize they’re about to be dumped with a particularly scary part. Until Dawn plays like a movie except you’re making the choices! Starring Hayden Pannetiere and Rami Malek, you really can’t go wrong with this story about a group of friends whose plans to spend a weekend partying in a luxury cabin in the mountains goes horrifically wrong.
Go to a Theme Park
I can’t speak for theme parks outside of Montreal, but I know that ours (LaRonde), throws this giant horror fest every Halloween where zombies roam the park and the entire place is transformed from a fun-filled summer getaway into a horrifying destination where you’re screaming for an entirely different reason. I highly recommend checking out to see if your local theme-parks are doing anything scary this Halloween or if there’s a haunted house waiting to be discovered nearby!
. . .
Well there are some ideas on how to spend your Halloween this year! Some of my favorite ways I’ve spent Halloween have been the simplest ideas – dressing up and walking around the neighborhood with my boyfriend, curling up with friends, lots of candy and getting spooked as we took turns trying to survive Until Dawn…
How are you planning on spending Halloween this year? Let me know in the comments down below!
With that said, I’m off to brew some hot chocolate and enjoy my favorite Halloween tradition – watching Lost Boys 😉
Halloween Happy Halloween Wanderers! Xx
Because of reading too much YA, I feel like the scary games isn’t going to be appealing for me. Haha. I’d probably watch a horror film. Great post! 🙂
I don’t blame you😆 thanks a ton!
