Soo I’ve been working on this mini poem for a bit and decided I should finally share it on the blog! It’s super short but the idea for it came to me the other day when, on this perfectly cool, colorful morning, my mom was saying how she wished she could jump in the fall instead of having to clean them up. ‘This yard has a lot of memories‘, she’d said. It made me think about all of my fall memories and one in particular eventually became the focus of the poem.
With that said, here’s the piece! 🙂
. . .
Bathed in orange leaves and childhood memories,
Drinking cider tea and reminiscing of happy Halloweens,
Trick or treating at sixteen with you beside me,
You were a demon and I was laughing giddily – it was actually freeing,
Your warmth was golden candlelight, on a bone-chilled eve.
. . .
I have a ton of really great ones, like how for four years, my two best girlfriends and I would turn my basement into a haunted house and then throw a Halloween party, or how excited I got later on to cosplay as some of my favorite characters...This one from the poem is the first Halloween I spent with my boyfriend – I felt like I was too old to trick or treating but he insisted we weren’t and said we should if we really want to. I think I spent the first five minutes being totally mortified but it didn’t take long to realize he was totally right and it ended up being a great night! As you can maybe tell…there’s something about this season that (despite the cold,) makes me feel super nostalgic <3 What are you favorite fall memories? Let me know in the comments down below!
Signing off and heading to dreamland , Goodnight Wanderers <3
