It’s been a crazy fee days seeing as it’s officially back-to-school-season and even though I’m no longer a student, so many of my friends are and there’s just that feeling in the air, am I right? I think it’s the excitement of clean slate mixed with the sensation that anything can happen!
Today I was reminiscing about the long bus rides home I use to have and how I didn’t exactly hate it because that meant I could kick back and listen to music. And somehow that thought turned into a question that I thought I’d blog about today –

Top 10 Albums I Can’t Live Without!
Blue Neighborhood – Troye Sivan
I love anything Troye Sivan releases but Blue Neighborhood will always be that album that I can’t stop coming back to. It’s the most relatable Coming of Age album I’ve ever listened to.
Outlander S1 OST – Bear McCreary
I think this is one of my favorite albums to write to…Bear McCreary just really nailed the essence of Outlander and Jaime and Claire’s adventures and I love every single moment of the OSTs! They’re romantic, exhilarating and beautiful. No soundtrack has ever made me want to stop what I’m doing and simply enjoy the scenery around me to the sound of flutes, strings and bagpipes quite like this!
Masterpiece Theatre – Marianas Trench
One of my favorite bands back in high school and they’ve still got me hooked to this day. Masterpiece Theatre’s All to Myself was the first song a friend showed me by Marianas’s Trench and I’ve always had a huge soft spot in my heart for their music.
Niche Syndrome – One OK Rock
One OK Rock is a Japanese punk rock band quickly taking over America and I have to say…I might be a newer fan but I’ve fallen fast and hard. While this album is mostly punk, it’s their ballad ‘Wherever You Are’ that has easily become one of my top five favorite songs and I am so dancing to that at my wedding, no questions asked.
Sleeping With Ghosts – Placebo
Placebo is one of my most beloved bands but Sleeping With Ghosts (2003) will always be my favorite of their eras! Mainly because of English Summer Rain. Brain Molko’s energy on stage when he sings that, no matter what year, is just crazy.
Mister Asylum – Highly Suspect
My boyfriend introduced Highly Suspect to me when he stumbled upon them and thought one of their songs reminded him of the characters in my YA novel I’m working on. He pretty much nailed it and I’ve been obsessed with this trio ever since! It’s just good old classic rock n roll and I have them on replay constantly.
If I Stay OST – Heitor Pereira
I’ve talked way too much on this blog how much I love this book/movie…and I guess I mine as well declare my love for the soundtrack too while I’m at it. Not only do they feature an array of artists I love like a cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Today’ and Beck’s ‘Morning’, but the original songs written for Adam’s band are AMAZING. No matter how much I’ve listened/watched/read it…Heart Like Yours will never fail to make me cry.
I so wanted to just write ‘every BTS album ever’ but I made myself choose one. It was a close tie between TMBML and Dark & Wild…but since this one features Young Forever, I had to choose it! The lyrics in that song are so profound and it never fails to pick me up when I’m down. Plus it also includes I Need U, one of my favorite BTS songs and music videos!
Long Way Down – Tom Odell
Tom Odell has had a soft spot in my heart since I accidentally found him on the If I Stay soundtrack! In the mix of all the energetic rock bands and heavy electronic beats, Tom Odell has this really poetic way with words and his piano. Long Way Down just feels so refreshing and it’s always been on heavy rotation for me.
Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness – Smashing Pumpkins
There’s honestly nothing that I dislike about Smashing Pumpkins. ‘Today’ still stands as my favorite song by them but Mellon Collie is my favorite album – this lengthy work has an array of different types of songs that has a bit of something for everyone and while I have a bunch that stand out to me, one of my favorites is definitely ‘Love’ – it’s constantly stuck in my head!

So that makes up my list of top 10 albums I could never live without – if my house was on fire, I would search through smoke and rubble just for these cds 😅
