*phew* It has been way too long since we’ve talked! I’ve wanted to post for a week now but for various reasons, I’ve been telling myself firmly to just take a break from writing in any form – including blogging.
I have some hauls, lists and tags coming up that I’m really excited to share with you all but for my first post back, I really just wanted to catch up with you all 🙂
So, where have I been!? Welll….
Finishing My Novel’s Quick Draft!
Ahhh I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but I’ve officially finished my novel’s first draft! It feels like just yesterday I was staring at the outline I made, all 42 chapters still needing to be written and the end feeling far off. But it’s finally done! When I finished the epilogue, I was just arriving in Toronto via train and decided then and there it was break time from any sort of writing.
Before any editing went down, I wanted to make sure my mind was a clean and refreshed slate – ergo the blogging break.
My Trip to Toronto
I recently went to Toronto to visit my aunt, whom I’m always eager to spend a weekend with because she’s one of my closest friends / like the big sister I never had.
After spending my first night visiting family at a comfy (and delicious!!) pub on Yonge, we hit up Korea Town and Kensington Market Saturday morning. Kensington is literally one of my favorite spots to visit anytime mainly because of the artistic/carefree atmosphere but also because of all the thrifting / vintage shopping. We spent most of Sunday binging my favorite show Outlander (I think I succeeded in converting her into a fan) and in general, staying quiet since there was a massive heat wave happening.
Okay so since I was taking a break from writing and had more time to spare, I wanted to tackle the Goodreads goal I made back on New Years. So every day, I try and take out some time of my day to kick my feet up on our patio and just read in the sun! I’m nearly done The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood and then I’m tackling Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo – So stay tuned for reviews! 😀
PS. What are you reading right now?
Getting Another Tattoo!?
Sooo I got my third tattoo this morning!! It’s my first book-related piece and it’s my ode to the Outlander series / show <3 Not only has Diana Gabaldon dug me out of a depressingly long reading slump back when Outlander’s ending kept me up until 7am, the books and show have also brought me lots of swoons, giggles and intense page-turning binges.
‘Je Suis Prest’ (I Am Ready) is the Fraser family motto and as someone who can at times be shy or anxious, I aspire to be more like Claire, Jaime and Bree – more stubborn, outspoken and do whatever it takes to overcome whatever I am facing :p
. . .
That brings me to the end of my little update! Thanks so much for sticking by me and my blog – I’m inspired and excited to be back with all new posts!
In any case, whatever comes next, Je Suis Prest!! Talk soon and thanks for reading <3
What have you been up to this summer?! Let me know in the comments down below!
