First of all, I just wanted to say sorry for being kinda MIA lately – my hours at work got really crazy suddenly and that on-top of trying to complete my quick draft for my manuscript has left me soo exhausted this past week.
Now that I’m back, I have a topic today that I’m pretty excited about! Today I want to talk about books I want to see become movies!
It’s gotten so popular lately for books to be adapted for the big screen and for any reader watching, it’s as terrifying as it is exciting xD Personally I hope the trend continues so more authors get to see their books come to life! With that said, let’ get into it!
. . .
Books I Want to See Turned into Movies
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Powell
The second I finished Eleanor & Park, the first thing I did was look up to see if it had a film – honestly I was so shocked when I realized no such movie existed. This book has gotten so much positive attention from young people for it’s shedding light on bullying and abusive households but also, the story of first love woven into it is so sweet! Despite the tough topics, I hope that books like Thirteen Reasons Why being put on our screens marks the start for this beloved book and others like it getting adapted!
Unwind by Neal Shusterman
This action packed and thought provoking series seriously deserves and adapt. If there’s any post-apocalyptic book series that needs to be brought to the big screen, I’d vote for Unwind! Not only are it’s major themes incredibly relevant to our society today (pro-life vs pro-choice, kids in schools protesting just to name a couple) but, post-apocalyptic adapts tend to do pretty well in theaters! Keeping my fingers crossed for this one 🙂
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Hush, Hush (and Fitzpatricks writing in general) kind of gives me Gone Girl or Girl on the Train vibes with it’s mysterious, dark plot and rainy setting. I seriously need Patch and Nora on the big screen before I start reading the series over for the fifth time. I love that Hush, Hush has a supernatural twist (one, by the way, that’s not annoyingly overdone already) and think it’d do really awesome at keeping people on the edge of their seats!
Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Okay, Okay – we got If I Stay so why not the sequel!? Where She Went is hands down one of my favourite novels ever and I’m really hoping we get to see part 2 of Mia and Adam’s story :3 The cast and crew did such an incredible job wit the first books adapt so I’m really hoping we get to see the fallout after Mia wakes up!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I just recently finished this one and ahhh! The characters and the world were so much fun to read about. I’m so curious as to who would get casted for what part (especially Kaz!) and get to see all of their flashbacks come to life. Also, I just want to see the Grisha powers on screen because they sound epic. I think Six if Crows would make a really nail-biting, thrilling film!
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
And last but not least…I know that technically, Delirium did get turned into a movie. There’s an – actually really well done – trailer on youtube and the cast in my opinion was pretty good but it wasn’t hyped up very well. No major TV spots or cast interviews, no theatre viewings (at least not in Montreal?). The movie was just kinda made and then dumped on the internet for people to have to try and find online. Delirium has such an interesting post-apocalyptic setting and I really want to see it come to life properly!
. . .
So those are all the books I hope to see come to the big screen! That wraps up today’s post – hope you enjoyed giving it a read 🙂 Let me know in the comments down below your favorite book-to-movie adapt and which book you want to see come to life next!
Have an awesome week everyone <3
