Hey everyone!!How goes it? I’ve been in a writing craze lately and realized something pretty awesome yesterday – I have 10 chapters left to write in my quick draft! The end is near, the marathon is almost over…and then it’s going to start all over again when I go back to flesh out/edit it 😅For today’s post, I thought it’d be fun to do a writing related post and talk about my favorite parts of the writing process! Every writer is different and what parts I struggle with might be a total piece of cake for the next person. So if you’re a writer too, let me know what your favorite parts of writing are! Wiith that said, let’s jump into it —

Things I Love About The Writing Process!
I’ve said it a couple times before on this blog and even wrote a whole blog post about it, but hands down one of my favorite parts about writing is giving the characters in my head a name. Somehow, finding that perfect name makes their voice so much more prominent and says lot about who they are. Not all names I use have a super special meaning (sometimes I just like the sound or spelling,) but for the ones that do, it’s also a lot of fun to research a language, culture, meaning, etc to find the right one 😀
I have a lot of fun writing a characters backstory! Figuring out why they are the way they are and what makes them tick is always an adventure and ends up being a surprise to me even though I’m the one writing it. It’s for sure tedious sometimes but the more I ask myself ‘but why?’ to everything I’ve just discovered, the more I learn – and the more I learn, the easier it is to write a scene with that character.
The First Kiss
This is probably super cheesy but I love writing the first kiss! Putting on the right jams, setting a nice scene (or maybe a not-so-nice dangerous life-threatening scene, who knows,) and getting to write that first intimate moment between two characters is really awesome! I can’t help it – I’m a hopeless romantic. I love making my characters get to know each other and building up that chemistry. Also, I swear, 99% of the time when I come up with ‘the first kiss’ it’s because of some great song I’ve just heard that’s inspiring the moment. That’s what happened for the sci/fi I’m currently writing! If you’re curious….heres the song :p
That ‘Light-Bulb’ Moment/Feeling
I had no idea what to title this one so I’m just going to try my best to explain it 😆 Any IZombie fans out there?! You know when Liv accidentally triggers a persons memory and suddenly has a vision? Sometimes there are those scenes that play out so vividly in my head they’re like a movie and I need to write it down immediately before I forget it. I’m just going to call it a light-bulb moment because usually it comes out of nowhere. We all know not every scenes come out that easy (in fact most don’t) so I love my light-bulb moments! Does anyone else get those??
I’m a pretty hands on/curious person and I love to learn so being a writer..I end up researching a lot of random stuff. If a non-writer saw my google searches they’d probably give me a super strange look xP Lately, since my character has medical training, I’ve been researching a lot of proper medical techniques while also searching up things like ‘how to stop a bleeding wound while stranded’ or ‘radiation sickness symptoms’ xP I also took a parkour class a few years back and archery lessons this year for my birthday for writing (and kinda because I wanted to super bad for myself hehe). I’m kinda also looking into boxing classes to imagine/write fight scenes better! …Is that weird? It definitely helps to write/research about the things that really interest you that way the researching part doesn’t get boring.
