How was your holiday weekend!?
I was having lunch the other day with one of my friends when suddenly she whipped out a manga. We both love reading but she’s never been into the anime or manga scene whereas my childhood was filled with it – besides binging anime is one of my boyfriend and I’s favorite thing to do.
Seeing her get soo excited about this manga reminded me of the volume of Inuyasha sitting on my TBR shelf aloong with all the other manga I’ve been meaning to try out but haven’t!
In an effort to finally give it a go and read more mangas, I thought it’d be fun to share with you the series I’m looking at picking up Here we go!!
. . .
My Manga Reading List
“Transported back to Japan’s feudal era, high school student Kagome accidentally releases the feral half-demon dog boy Inu-Yasha from his imprisonment for stealing the Jewel of Four Souls.” – Goodreads
I’ve loved Inuyasha since I was a kid and recently binged the show all over again. I seriously need to get on the manga that started it all though! They’re some of my favorite characters to come back to time and again and the adventure is so epic!
“Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way—except their craving for human flesh. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers.” – Indigo
I’ve heard soo much about Tokyo Ghoul and I’ve been dying to give it a read – I love a good zombie story and I think it’s so cool when there’s an undead character who still has their wits (like Warm Bodies or Dearly Departed!).
Made in Abyss
“In an age when the corners of the world have been scoured for their secrets, only one place remains unexplored-a massive cave system known as the Abyss, filled with monstrous creatures and lost relics. Those who delve into its depths are known as Cave Raiders. A young orphan named Riko dreams of following in her mother’s footsteps as a Cave Raider, and when she meets a strange robot while exploring the Abyss, she is one perilous step closer to achieving her goal!” – Indigo
My boyfriend and I watched the anime adaption and I was so addicted to all of it – the plot, the universe, the characters. It ended at a really interesting point but isn’t quite caught up with the manga yet and I’m really dying to know what happens next!
“Twenty-nine-year-old Satoru Fujinuma is floundering through life. Amid his daily drudgery, he finds himself in the grip of an incredible, inexplicable, and uncontrollable phenomenon that rewinds time, a condition that seems to only make his drab life worse. But then, one day, everything changes. A terrible incident forever changes Satoru’s life as he knows it…and with it, comes a ‘Revival’ that sends Satoru eighteen years into the past! In the body of his boyhood self, Satoru encounters sights he never imagined he would see again–the smile of his mother, alive and well, his old friends, and Kayo Hinazuki, the girl who was kidnapped and murdered when he was a boy the first time around. To return to the present and prevent the tragedy that brought him back to his childhood in the first place, Satoru begins plotting a way to change Hinazuki’s fate…But up against the clock and a faceless evil, does eleven-year-old Satoru even stand a chance?” – Goodreads
I saw the trailer for this on Netflix and it really piqued my interest – and if you’ve read my blog you know I love time travelling stories! It seems like a really interesting murder mystery too 🙂
To Your Eternity
“To Your Eternity Chapter 1: From the creator of the critically acclaimed A Silent Voice, Yoshitoki Oima’s newest manga series is a compelling spiritual fantasy, the tale of an abandoned native boy journeying alone in the frozen north with only a mysterious wolf for a companion.” – Goodreads
I saw A Silent Voice with my boyfriend and loved it so when I came across To Your Eternity, I knew I had to check it out! Having a pet wolf to follow you on your adventures sounds awesome but knowing how A Silent Voice went…:,(
“On the day that Naho begins 11th grade, she recieves a letter from herself ten years in the future. At first, she writes it off as a prank, but as the letter’s predictions come true one by one Naho realizes that the letter might be the real deal. Her future self tells Naho that a new transfer student, a boy named Kakeru, will soon join her class. The letter begs Naho to watch over him, saying that only Naho can save Kakeru from a terrible future. Who is this mystery boy, and can Naho save him from his destiny?” – Indigo
Andd last but not least, this is the manga my friend was reading. So far she really likes it and just getting to know the characters from her got me really interested! I like a good highschool romance with some sort of paranormal twist.
. . .
And there you have it! See any you’re into or have read before? What did you make of it?
