It’s been a bit since I’ve done a book tag so I wanted to take a crack at the Me In Book Character Tag after reading Kat’s take on it over at Lifeandotherdisasters – she’s an awwesome blogger with lotsa great posts about cinema and books. Like her, I wasn’t directly tagged, but it sounded like so much fun that I had to try it!
I’m thinking it’s going to be really challenging to pick five book-only characters buut I’m going to attempt this xD
Soo here goes nothing!!
. . .

“I’m not the meek & obedient type.”
I mean honestly, it wasn’t a surprise to me when Claire popped to the front of my mind when I saw this tag..I love her too much not to pick her and I think one of the reasons for that is because I connect with her on a personal level so much. While our upbringings are drastically different, we both love to learn and care deeply for those close to us. Claire is suuper sarcastic and stubborn. She’ll always tell you you’re doing someone wrong even if it might get her in trouble. I might not have Claire’s combat nurse skills but I like to think I’m nurturing when it comes to kids and the people I love. In fact…Claire has kinda inspired me to learn first aid xD Lastly, she’s a survivor not because she’s strong not because she wields a weapon, but because she’s quick on her feet mentally.
“I wasn’t afraid. Not anymore.”
I’ve always connect with Elena personality wise which is why I loved her so much! We both keep to ourselves and do the best around those we cherish rather than being outspoken in a crowd. Elena likes to go for runs by herself, is a writer and isn’t too big on fashion or makeup and prefers the company of guy friends then girls (always loved her brotherly friendship with Nick because I have a similar friend apart from my girlfriend) – that sorta sums me up in a nutshell xD
“That’s the cost. That’s the price. Get ready, because when you crush the humanity out of humans, you’re left with humans with no humanity. In other words, you get what you pay for.”
I loved the first few chapters of The Fifth Wave because it really showed Casey’s vulnerability while she was forced to survive alone. I really felt for her during those chapters because I for one do HORRIBLY alone. The dark terrifies me and I don’t think I could ever do well living in an apartment all alone because every creak in the night would give me a heart attack hehehe…The way she always found herself going back to old memories definitely made me think I’d do the same. Why essentially ‘useless’ I think if the apocalypse ever approached, I’d feel the need to bring photos and my cell too…Just for the sake of remembering.
“Sometimes I did feel like I came from a different tribe. I was not like my outgoing, ironic dad or my tough-chick mom. And as if to seal the deal, instead of learning to play electric guitar, I’d gone and chosen the cello.”
Whether it be the book or the movie adaptation, I always find myself smiling at Mia’s awkward shyness because I’m pretty much the same. I kept to myself a lot of in highschool unless I was with my three best friends (all of whom I see bits of Kim’s character in). While I can’t play any instruments, I feel connected to music much the same way Mia does and I also felt her struggle when it came time to pick a college major. You don’t realize how many decisions come at the end of high-school grad until you’re right there being rushed to make them all.
“I bare it so they don’t have to.”
This one is a tiny bit of a cheat because while I’m up to date on the show, I haven’t finished book 1 yet! I chose Clarke because I’ve always enjoyed how she’s a character who can be just as fierce as she is diplomatic. I’m very open-minded and will always try befriending a stranger I encounter before automatically thinking the worst of them. I like to feel people out before I judge them. Clarke is a thinker and very friendly if not sorta a loner at the start but when someone messes with the people she loves, she’s the first to step up and I’m the same way. I’d do anything for my friends.
. . .
And those are all my picks! This was definitely a challenge xD I kept wanting to pick tv shows uuugh. But I love a good challenge!
Which book characters do you connect with the most? Let me know in the comments down below 🙂 Since I wasn’t personally tagged, I’m just going to go ahead and tag everyone interested in trying this out themselves!
Anyhow, that’s it for me tonight – have a good weekend!!
