I found this seriously awesome tag over at Whimsically Megans’s book, music and film filled blog (basically an awesome one-stop-shop for anything entertainment!) and knew I had to take a stab at it after reading it! I think you can tell a lot about a person by peaking at their bookshelf and tags are such a fun way to do that 🙂 I love answering the questions to these tags so without further ado, let’s get into it!

The New York Times “By The Book” Tag
What book is on your nightstand now?
Actually, it’s the first Inuyasha manga xD My boyfriend got it for me a few months back on a trip to the book store after I’d gushed about how much I’d been loving netflixing the show — total throwback to my childhood.
Currently, I’m also reading ‘Voyager’ by Diana Gabaldon but that book goes everywhere with me!
What was the last truly great book you’ve read?
Hmmm…that’s so difficult!! It’d have to be a toss up before Neil Shusterman’s ‘Unwind’ or Diana Gabaldon’s ‘Dragonfly in Amber’.
If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be? And what would you want to know?
It would have to be Kelly Armstrong or Melissa Marr if it was a living author! I met both of them super briefly when they came to my local bookstore for a signing but I was so nervous I barely spoke xD If the author was dead, it would be Lewis Carroll – I’d love to know where he got all of his inspiration for Alice In Wonderland.
What books might we be surprised to find on your shelf?
Honestly, maybe my TTYL series by Lauren Myracle. The entire series is written in text message and I was gifted the books by my aunt when I was 12 or 13. Even though it was so long ago, I loved Lauren’s work back then and it’s too sentimental to get rid of!
How do you organize your personal library?
I try to organize my bookshelf but until I grab another, I don’t think organized is the word I’d use to describe my bookshelf right now xD Originally, I went by favorite authors and keeping series together but since I’ve run out of space, books tend to just get shoved (with care…sorta…don’t worry, I’m no book abuser) wherever they fit.
What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet?
I really want to read ‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens because after seeing the movie, I was very interested in reading Pip’s story…Same goes for the ‘Narnia’ books, by C.S Lewis.
Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you are supposed to like but didn’t?
I did try to read The Uglies by Scott Westerfield back in high school and I really really wanted to love them because I’d heard such good things about the series…but I only remember reading a few chapters before returning the book to the library.
What kind of stories are you drawn to? Any you stay clear of?
I really love YA and post-apocalyptic. Thanks to Outlander, I don’t have a series I stear clear of anymore xD
If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?
Definitely ‘Unwind’ by Neil Shusterman. It’s an amazing read and incredibly informative on several important issues in society today. Even though it’s clear what side Neil takes, the fact that he tells the story in multiple POV’s allows the reader to get what all sides feel and I think putting yourself in others shoes is something that’s really vital for understanding the bigger picture.
What do you plan to read next?
I bought Rainbow Powell’s ‘Eleanor and Park’ a few months back but haven’t gotten around to reading it — hopefully it’ll be next up once I finish my current read!
Since I tagged myself, I’ll pass it on the same way! If you enjoyed checking out this tag, feel free to do it yourself!

Another tag done and another post posted – Going to go pass out now before I embarrassingly start rambling out pure exhaustion. Goodnight and happy weekend!!
