Some of my Favorite Bookish Quotes

Hey everyone!

I could not be happier that it’s finally the weekend. It’s finally time to relax and slow it down and somehow I feel like I haven’t stopped running around. Super exhausted and can’t wait to sleep in and chill out this weekend 🙂 I definitely plan on catching up on some reading…and probably some much needed gaming! There’s a bunch of new games coming out next week like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Life is Strange: Before The Storm that I need to get my hands on ASAP. What are your plans this weekend?

Anyway, I was flipping through my copy of Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon and realized I’d racked up quite a few dog-eared pages of quotes or scenes I adored. It’s a (horrible?) habit that I got a few years ago and can’t stop! I love coming back to old books and remembering all the things I loved about it.

So for today’s post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite book quotes!

. . .

From Russia, With Love (Kelly Armstrong)

“I was dreaming of the ravines, racing through them, feeling…lonely. Crushing loneliness-and frustration and self-loathing because I shouldn’t have been feeling lonely, damn it. I’d chosen that life. I’d chosen that man. Good choices, both of them. And yet…not for me. That’s what it came down to in the end. Something can be good and decent and worthy, and still not make you happy because it doesn’t fill that pit inside you. And you won’t be happy until it is filled, however hard that will be. ” -Elena

Where She Went (Gayle Forman)

“But I’d do it again. I know that now. I’d make that promise a thousand times over and lose her a thousand times over to have heard her play last night or to see her in the morning sunlight. Or even without that. Just to know that she’s somewhere out there. Alive.” – Adam

“I’ve become to realize there’s a world of difference between knowing something happened, even knowing why it happened, and believing it.”

“Her hands were freezing, just like they always were, so I warmed them, just like I always did.”

The Vincent Boys (Abbi Glines)

“Sawyer frowned. He hadn’t been expecting me to voice my feelings when he was upset. I never wanted to ruffle his feathers. Making life easy for Sawyer had been my mantra for so long. Well, that part of the charade I was living was long gone. No more patting him on the back.” – Ashton

Hush, Hush (Becca Fitzpatrick)

“Keep in mind that people change, but the past doesn’t.”

“It’s called a shower.” I was staring straight ahead. When he didn’t answer, I turned sideways. “Soap. Shampoo. Hot water.”

“-Naked. I know the drill.”  – Patch & Nora

Dragonfly in Amber (Diana Gabaldon)

“Lying on the floor, with the carved panels of the ceiling flickering dimly above, I found myself thinking that I had always heretofore assumed that the tendency of eighteenth-century ladies to swoon was due to tight stays; now I rather thought it might be due to the idiocy of eighteenth-century men. ” – Claire

“Oh, Claire, ye do break my heart wi’ loving you.” – Jaime

Of Triton (Anna Banks)

“Now, years later, I can translate that lesson into: safe isn’t always better than sorry. Sometimes you need sorry to appreciate the safe. And sometimes safe is just plain boring.” – Emma

Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen)

“You have bewitched me body and soul and I love…I love…I love you.” – Darcy

“We do not suffer by accident.”

Unwind (Neil Shusterman)

“Doing the right thing shouldn’t make you ashamed.”

“Nobody looks like a clapper.”

“Thinking ahead has never been one of Connor’s strong points. If it was, he might not have gotten into the various situations that have plagued him over the past few years. Situations that got him labels like “troubled” and “at risk,” and finally this last label, “unwind.”

Hamlet (Shakespeare)

“Doubt thou the stars are fire, Doubt that the sun doth move, Doubt truth to be a liar, But never doubt I love.” – Ophelia

Under the Never Sky (Veronica Rossi)

“In the afternoon, they stopped to eat on a rocky outcrop. Perry brushed a kiss on her cheek while she was chewing, and she learned that it was the loveliest thing to be kissed for no reason, even while chewing food. It brightened the woods, and the never sky, and everything.” – Aria

“It’s hard to follow a person’s logic if you don’t know how they feel.”

. . .

The truth is…I could have gone on forever but I had to cut myself off! Maybe there will be a part 2? What are your favorite book quotes? Are you a doggy-ear or book-mark kinda person? Leave your answers in the comments down below! 🙂

Have a good night all, sleep tight!
