Struggles of a Bookworm

Helloo all πŸ™‚

So today I was staring guiltily at my sad, sad TBR pile and it got me thinking of all the struggles that we bookish people go through. Reading is a rollercoaster of emotions and for some reason, we chose to do it over and over again!

Why? Well probably because while being a bookworm comes with many struggles, getting lost in a book is totally worth the consequences. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to make a short and sweet post and list some of my biggest bookworm struggles!

– Here we go πŸ™‚

  • So many books, so little time!

  • School reading or leisure reading?

  • Audio book vs Paper?

  • ‘Just one more chapter’

  • Hardcover or paperback?

  • Buying a book for it’s gorgeous cover…and then realizing it’s a terrible book.

  • Broke but still buys more booksΒ

  • ‘What’s one more book on my TBR?’

  • Running out of bookshelf space

  • Obsessing over organizing your bookshelf

  • Finding new ways to bookstagram your new books

  • Getting a book hangover

  • When your bookmark falls out and you lose your page

  • When a book makes you laugh out loud in public

  • That book you want to tear through and savor all at the same time

  • People who try to talk to you when all you want to do is read

  • *Stares at TBR pile* ‘I have nothing to read!

  • When the sequel to your favorite book is only coming out in a year.

  • When your favorite character is killed off.Β

  • The anxiety of watching your favorite book become a movie

  • ‘That’s not how it happened in the book!!’

  • The internal struggle you have when a friend asks to borrow your book..

  • Choosing which book(s?) to bring on vacation!

  • When fictional characters give you unrealistic expectations of real peopleΒ

  • Books that just don’t live up to their hype!

So there are my booksish problems! Which struggles did I miss? Do you share any of my struggles? Tell me yours in the comments down below!

Thanks for reading this short post, hoping it put it a smile on your face. Now I’m off to bed..goodnight everyone! πŸ™‚

  1. “That book you want to tear through and savor all at the same time…” “*Stares at TBR pile* β€˜I have nothing to read!…” “β€˜That’s not how it happened in the book!!’”

Relate to all of the above^ Thanks for sharing!

  2. I share tons of your struggles, but the worst is when the book makes me cry. I read mostly on my daily commute, and I have definitely gained the unwanted attention of other people on the train with some of my emotional outbursts. Hey, it’s hard to control sometimes.

  3. The struggle is real! My flat is brimming with books, a lot of which I have yet to read. No matter the books on my TBR I always find myself every weekend at the bookstore telling myself “You are only her to look”. One hour later I find myself walking out $200 poorer. I’m a huge stickler about keeping my books in immaculate condition so I totally understand the internal anxiety when a friend asks to borrow a book. Even if the tiniest rip or the smallest crease makes its way onto my book, I always feel like a little pice of me is being torn.
    Great post!
    Happy reading! πŸ™‚
