The Ultimate Book Tag

Hey there fellow wanderer,

First off, sorry this post is coming at you so late! I had a migraine earlier and it finally felt better enough to write something up. SO. Are you a big reader? I came across this tag not too long ago and I kinda loved it because as someone who is a big bookworm, what tag could be more perfect than one called ‘The Ultimate Book Tag?’ Find one, I dare you :p

I’ve been seeing this tag go around and I couldn’t help myself! It was originally started by Megan from what I could see so cudos to her for making such an awesome tag for those of us who are bookish out there!

Let’s get into it! 🙂

Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Noo never actually! I don’t have too much of a weak stomach and I driving has never made me feel sick ever.

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

It would have to be a cross between Kelley Armstrong and Diana Gabaldon. I love Kelly’s ability to blend genres so flawlessly and how Diana manages to write a book that’s in such a totally different era but also make the main character that’s so relatable and a narration that isn’t dry despite the time period!

Harry Potter or Twilight? kind of hard. I think Harry Potter is better written and I’ll always love having harry potter movie marathons..but Twilight’s characters are closer to my heart because that series followed me all through high school!

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what’s in it?

No not really! But 99.99% of the time, I always have a book on me and I definitely always have music with me – a must if I’m on the go and really want to get sucked into whatever I’m reading.

Do you smell your books?

Anything related to books smell good – am I right? That moment when you walk into Chapters and take in the beautiful sight – and smell – of a two floor store filled head-to-toe with books. Sigh.

Books with or without little illustrations?

It kind of depends on the book. Usually, I feel like drawings can take away from a novel or be distracting but then again I love things like mangas which obviously have both. I think sometimes it works and sometimes it’s just a little annoying!

What book did you love while reading but discovered later that it wasn’t quality writing?

This is so hard because I typically dislike rereading books and there are only a few I reread because I love them so much. I can’t really answer because that has never actually never happened to me – yet!

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood?

I use to adore Goosebumps when I was a kid – especially the ones you could make your own choices in. My dad and I use to read/watch it all the time and even though I would get nightmares soo easily, I still insisted we keep the tradition because I loved it so much…And in turn totally did not learn my lesson.

What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

It would have to be Cut by Patricia Mccormick and Breathless by Lurlene Mcdaniel! Both are about hard topics and tear-jerkers but beautifully written.

What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon, 900 pages give or take :p

Do you write as well as read? Do you yourself in the future as an author?

Yes! I love to write. It’s my creative outlet and my favorite hobby. I hope to publish my two manuscripts eventually and work as a writer for a game studio one day!

When did you get into reading?

I don’t know what my earliest memory would be, but I must have been young. My mom would always take me to Chapters, my aunt would gift me books every Christmas and my dad spent hours reading to me in bed so they were the ones who got me into reading and nurtured my love for it from a young age!

What is your favorite classic book?

Hands down, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen 🙂

In school, is your best subject English?

Definitely – I was horrible at math and science and only half decent at history when I was in high school. But English was always the subject I knew I didn’t have to try as hard in.

If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?

Hmm…There have been very few books I’ve picked up and hated but if this did happen, I’d probably secretly stuff it in my bookshelf and ‘forget’ it was on my tbr xD

What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or The Hunger Games?

For Harry Potter, it would definitely have to be House of Night! But for The Hunger Games..I’m going to cheat a little and say The 100. I haven’t read the books just yet but the recent episodes in the tv adaptation totally reminded me of Hunger Games!

What is a bad habit you always do while blogging?

I procrastinate so bad and before I know it, it’ll be super late! Youtube is going to be the bain of my existence, I swear.

What is your favorite word?

I really like the sound of ‘ardently’ and ‘epiphany’. It’s not like I ever have excuses to say such fancy words but I think they’re so fun to say anyways!

Nerd, dork, or dweeb? All of the above?

Maybe a cross between a nerd (because of my love for reading, learning and gaming?) and dork because I’m so clumsy it’s ridiculous.

Vampires or Faeries?

If you would have asked me this like 3-4 years ago, the answer hands down would have been vampires! But ever since reading ‘Wicked Lovely’ by Melissa Marr, the fae have won me over! Also the covers of that entire series – gorgeouus!!

Shapeshifters or Angels?

Angels by a loooong shot! I’m so obsessed with any story, movie or game that’s angel related. Since religions vary so much, I feel like no angel related story is the same and I love that ❤

Spirits or Werewolves?

Werewolves! I think being able to turn into a wolf would be both empowering and useful if of course you could forget about the bone breaking pain – or maybe it’d be painless and beautiful like in Blood & Chocolate? Also..I won’t say I’m religious or superstitious…but spirits freak me out and I wouldn’t want to do anything in fear of pissing them off.

Zombies or Vampires?

Vampires! I feel like vampire stories never got old for me, I’m always up for a good one and I could watch Underworld or True Blood a million times more and still not be sick of it. But after The Walking Dead got popular, it seemed like zombies were all the rage and I gotta say…while I’m a fan of the show, zombies just kinda got old fast for me.

Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

I love both, that’s so hard to choose! I think love triangle can be more fun because it’s always interesting to see a character slowly becoming aware of feelings she didn’t know she had. Plus, with friends, it’s fun to argue who characters should end up with! The Vampire Diaries is still one of my favorite love triangles!

Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

I’m all for romance books but sometimes it can just get to be a bit too much. I like seeing characters in a romance have their own arcs outside of their relationship so definitely the latter!

Welll, that’s the end of The Ultimate Book Tag! It is kinda a lengthy tag so I tag all of you who this one interesting and fun 🙂 There are so many fun questions and if you’ve done it or plan on it, let me know in the comments down below – because I tag you all! With that, I’m gunna get to sleep – Goodnight everyone!
